Dear Clients, Colleagues and Friends                                                                                                    Updated 22/06/2021

We celebrated our 4th Anniversary on Saturday 19th June and want to thank each and every client who has supported us along the way. It has been an amazing experience for us all, growing from a team of 4 to over 30 incredibly dedicated and caring people in such a short time. We started with a great set up but have added many pieces of equipment along the way helping us to provide an even better service, all based in our modest sized practice.

As many of you will know, we have been working throughout the last year securing and transforming additional space from what was NISA next door. The builders should be finished in July and we will be welcoming clients back into the building as soon as we are able. The new build is also enabling us to split the practice in two and become one of very few practices to have a dedicated area for seeing, treating and hospitalising cats and dogs separately!

HOT OFF THE PRESS – Emergency Out of Hours Plan!

Have you ever considered what would happen if your pet became ill during the night, or maybe this has already happened to you? Imagine the situation………Its 9pm and you notice your much loved family dog is looking really unwell or 5am and your cat has just come in dragging his back legs. What happens next? Who do you call? At the moment as with most local practices, if you call us you will be redirected to Vets Now in Barton-le-Clay, where the dedicated emergency staff will treat your beloved pet. This hospital and the care are great, but we really believe this could be better achieved by our team in Lower Stondon.

The advantages of having on-site 24 hour care are significant:

  • At HVC – you are already familiar with where we are located, so there’s no stressful drive to somewhere new
  • Our team – you will deal with HVC staff who understand your pet(s)
  • Clinical records – very importantly, unlike Vets Now, we have full access to your pet’s clinical records including medication and lab results
  • No transfers – your pet will not have to travel back and forth from Vets Now to us for day and night care, as they do now
  • Cost savings – although we have to charge properly for out of hours services, there will be no transfer fees.  The price of lab tests, surgery and medicines will be the same night and day

Our ongoing expansion will give us the capability to deliver this emergency service to our registered patients. However we want to do this in such a way that is in line with our practice ethos, of treating patients as if they are our own, and to the highest possible standard. For this we will require a full-time night vet, 2 full-time night nurses and both vets and nurses for weekend and holiday day cover, so there is always someone at the practice round the clock.

As you can imagine delivering this service will require considerable investment, and unfortunately with our current number of patients, the costs will be much greater than any earnings from the service. Therefore, if you, the clients believe in this service as we do, we need your support from the start.

From today, all new pets wishing to register with HVC, will be required to pay a small annual Emergency Service membership fee, to make the service possible. The cost will be just £25 per year, per cat, dog and rabbit.

Henlow Vets Emergency Service membership will not only offer your pets seamless care, but you will also benefit from a discount of £50 off the Out of Hours Emergency Fee, anytime you used the service.

Existing clients with existing registered pets will have the choice to subscribe or not, but we would really value your support. Henlow Healthy Pet members may spread the cost by adding just £2.10 to their monthly direct debit.

Proposed launch date for Henlow Vets Emergency Service is 6th September 2021!

Please contact us to show your support and sign up! If you have any questions about the service please feel free to email me graeme@henlowvets.co.uk

“Treating your pets as if they were our own”

Anna, Graeme and the team at Henlow Veterinary Centre offer you a warm welcome.

We are an independent, family run veterinary practice who believe in treating your pets as if they are our own. We are committed to providing the highest quality care and treatment to your pet and also to treating them with respect and dignity at all times.

We want you and your pets to feel welcome and secure, from the first moment you make contact with us to the moment you leave the practice, and throughout your ongoing journey with us.

To this end we have developed a warm, inviting place filled with highly experienced staff, who have been chosen because of their great compassion and dedication.

“Henlow Vets have quite simply been fantastic, my cats are treated as if they are their own and the practice feels so friendly and warm.  They are incredibly caring and  I have been seen when I have been worried, I was constantly reassured and nothing is too much trouble.  My 4 Siamese boys have blossomed under their care I feel very much part of the Henlow Vets family. Thank you all for everything you have done to support me and the boys through the last few months.  AMAZING!”

“Thanks to all the wonderful treatment from Henlow Vets, this week Cookie has been enjoying short walks around Northumberland castles, along beaches, and at Hadrian’s Wall. Our thanks to the whole team!”

Blake Stephenson and Cookie

I joined Henlow vets when they first opened and I can say that they have always been very accommodating over the years. But Sunday morning Anna and her team were amazing, they responded with speed to my sos, Tula got the very best of care and the delivery of her 6 pups. They are a wonderful group of people and I can only recommend them as this is a veterinary surgery which really cares about the animals and there owners. Keep up the good work especially in these tough times. Hannah
